Now Seeking Community Support via Kickstarter, The London based Artist & Art Historian is Raising Funds & Support to enable her to create and exhibit a series of paintings inspired by the dramatic landscape of New Mexico made iconic by the legendary Georgia O’Keeffe. Lydia’s approach is a radical reinterpretation of O’Keeffe’s stylised and abstracted style by her use of unconventional and highly textured mixed media technique which adds substance, immediacy and drama to the landscape.

Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986) is one of the most iconic and legendary American artists of the twentieth century. The region of New Mexico where she lived for five decades came to be known as Georgia O’Keeffe country. Lydia’s project is intended to discover more about O’Keeffe’s painting practice by travelling to the region to identify the very motifs painted by her and comparing them to her paintings.

She will then exhibit her own large and textured interpretations of the familiar scenes in an effort to offer an alternative vision of the landscapes appropriated by O’Keeffe. It is a kind of dialogue across time between two very different women artists in love with the same desert landscape.

Lydia has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds and support for this project on Kickstarter and she is welcoming everyone for generous support.

“I’m raising funds to finance a major London exhibition in 2019, which is the culmination of a two-year project involving Georgia O’Keeffe, New Mexico and me.” Said Lydia Bauman, while introducing this project to the Kickstarter community. “The art historian in me wants to understand Georgia O’Keeffe’s work better, the artist in me needs to challenge my own landscape painting practice. The resulting exhibition should be an eye opening experience for all who love Georgia O’Keeffe and New Mexico as well as my own work”.

The Kickstarter Campaign is located on the web at: and supporters from around the world can back this project by making generous pledges and donations. The goal of this project is to raise a sum of nearly $25,000 and all funds raised through this crowdfunding campaign will go towards the organizing and promotion of this major art exhibition. More details are available on the Kickstarter campaign page of the project.
