On October 30, the Global Cross-border E-commerce Service Resource Convention 2018 was opened at the Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center, Chengdu, capital of western China’s Sichuan province. Themed “New Model of Trade, New Power of the Silk Road”, the event is the first professional conference focusing on cross-border e-commerce services across the world. It drew renowned cross-border e-commerce service providers from the United States, Australia, Russia, the UK, India, Malaysia, Thailand, South Africa among other countries, together with more than 1,500 professional visitors from home and abroad.

Yang Zejun, Deputy Commissioner of Chengdu Customs District, Fu Yan, Deputy Commissioner of the Special Commissioner’s Office in Chengdu, the Ministry of Commerce, Wang Weijin, Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Sichuan province and Deputy Secretary-general of Chengdu municipal government, Liao Chengzhen, Director of the General Office of Chengdu municipal government, and other leaders attended the opening ceremony and witnessed the signing of eight cross-border e-commerce service resource projects. The agreements were between China Overseas real estate business development ( Shenzhen ) Co., Ltd. and Chengdu Municipal Commission of Commerce, Ruston Express and Shuangliu Free Trade Zone, Kuazhitong and Wuhou district, Club Factory and Qingbaijiang district, Pingpong Payment and Shuangliu Free Trade Zone, J&P UK Accountants and Wuhou district, Kilimall and Qingbaijiang district and finally Shenzhen Qianhai Haitao City and Chengdu Hi-tech Service Co., Ltd.. These projects mark the foundation for high-quality development of cross-border e-commerce in Chengdu.

With robust promotion of the “Belt and Road” construction, cross-border e-commerce and other new business models have provided China with the necessary impetus to promote high-quality foreign trade development. Zheng Min, Chairman of the Board of Ebrun and Director of Ebrun Research Institute said third-party services are indispensable for the development of e-commerce. Transaction, payment, logistics, marketing, technology and compliance management services emerge as a platform or professional institution, and drive iterative growth of cross-border e-commerce sector. In globalization, manufacturing and resource consumption are widely distributed while service resources are shared globally. Thus, cross-border service resources provided by third-party platforms and professional institutions serve as an express means for speedily delivering goods to users. Chengdu, the “fourth pole” of cross-border e-commerce sector behind Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, is an industrial hub with significant regional influence and favorable environment for nurturing internet-related industries. “It is a forward-looking choice for the development of cross-border e-commerce service resources. We are buoyant that the convention will be the industry’s benchmark .”

The event was held under the stewardship of Chengdu municipal government, the Special Commissioner’s Office of the Ministry of Commerce in Chengdu and the Department of Commerce of Sichuan province, sponsored by Chengdu Municipal Commission of Commerce, and jointly organized by Ebrun, Chengdu Cross-border E-commerce Association and Siilu with support from Chengdu Customs District, Sichuan Bureau of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, Chengdu Office of the State Administration of Taxation, and China (Chengdu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Chengdu Administrative Committee.

 The convention brought together the world’s dynamic marketing and transaction service platforms, highlighted recent market changes especially in emerging markets and users’ requirements, and attracted the best delivery service providers across the globe. Furthermore, it promoted the latest service advantages of cross-border payment, logistics and overseas warehouses, especially comprehensive services for finance and supply chain sectors. It also brought together professional and compliance management institutions, recent solutions for international registration, taxation and intellectual properties, especially cases involving VAT and intellectual properties. At the same time, the event showcased cutting edge technological scenarios, artificial intelligence, big data and blockchain applications, represented by iterative scenarios in targeted marketing, social commerce, and blockchain finance. During the event, the main forum “Global Trends on Services & Resources in Cross-border E-commerce” and dialogues on cross-border e-commerce services and platforms were held.
