Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People’s Government of Fujian Province, the 4th “Maritime Silk Road” (Fuzhou) International Tourism Festival hosted by the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government and the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism will open in Fuzhou on November 30th, 2018, and the related activities will last until December 31st.

Fuzhou is an important birthplace of the Maritime Silk Road, and there are many overseas Chinese who were born here. With the increasingly close overseas cooperation and development of tourism, Fuzhou has successfully held three times of “Maritime Silk Road” (Fuzhou) International Tourism Festival. Under the theme of “Expanding Cooperation along the Maritime Silk Road and Sharing a Better Life”, besides the main activities of the launching ceremony and 2018 Fujian Tourism and Life Exhibition, 2018 China Tourism Industry Forum of Communication and Innovation and the float parade of “Maritime Silk Road to the World • Happy Tour in Fuzhou”, this year’s Tourism Festival also plans the serial activities of “Day of Sister Cities along the Maritime Silk Road”, the 9th Fuzhou Hot Spring International Tourism Festival, the 1st Exclusive Week for Foods along the Maritime Silk Road and other supporting activities.

Compared with previous ones, this year’s tourism festival has become more internationalized than ever, and has invited Ambassadors from Mauritius and Montenegro in China, representatives of Chinese embassy and consulate from Myanmar, Croatia and Panama in China, and representatives of tourism departments of countries along the “Belt and Road”, including Hungary, Malaysia, Turkey and Austria, World Tourism Alliance and China Newspaper Association, 12 representatives of Fuzhou International Friendship Cities, including Tacoma (U.S.), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Campinas (Brazil), Mombasa (Kenya), Yangon (Myanmar), Nagasaki (Japan), Hobart (Australia), Semarang (Indonesia), Georgetown (Guyana), Koszalin (Poland), Kwangyang (Korea) and Baroda (India), representatives of domestic and overseas travel agencies, representatives of domestic and foreign media, and representatives from provinces and urban tourism departments in China along the Maritime Silk Road. Almost 1,000 guests from nearly 30 countries will gather in Fuzhou for discussion and negotiation, promote regional cooperation on tourism, and jointly build the link and bridge for cultural exchanges along the Maritime Silk Road.

The 2018 Fujian Tourism and Life Exhibition of this year’s Maritime Silk Road Tourism Festival has an exhibition area of 20,000 square meters and 1,000 standard booths. There are tourism image exhibition areas for National Tourism Group Alliance and provincial tourism scenic spots, Fujian Arts and Crafts Achievements Exhibition after 40 years of Reform and Opening-up and comprehensive exhibition areas of tourism life, such as self-driving tour, special local products of Fujian and “Benefit Your Tourism”. The festival has invited tourism agencies from more than a dozen countries, including the United States and Australia and regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to participate. On the exhibition, nearly 100 domestic and foreign travel agencies and nationally renowned A-level scenic spots and attractions will jointly launch preferential travel products such as excellent

itineraries, specials and coupons for scenic spots and hotels, etc. to create a grand gathering of procurement that benefits the people.

In addition, in the evening of the launch of the Maritime Silk Road Tourism Festival on November 30th, people will also witness the grand launching of the float parade of “Maritime Silk Road to the World • Happy Tour in Fuzhou”, which is also the first time for Fuzhou to organize such a large-scale float parade.
