Although responses vary to stress, everyone faces it in some way. By finding quick stress relief activities, stress will not have to be a major part of your life. There are ways to de-stress that are healthy and can easily be a part of a daily routine.

Figuring Out The Causes Of Stress

Stress is not the same for everyone. It will vary person to person, and how much a person can handle will also vary. To be able to find a stress relief activity or mechanism, it is important to understand what is causing your stress. Some causes of stress are major life events. This would include divorce or a break up, loss of a job, moving to a new home, getting married, or death of a loved one. Some other live stresses can involve emotional problems such as depression, grief, guilt, or anxiety to name a few. There is also work stress. This is one of the top stressors for people. It will include being unhappy at a job, working long or too many hours, public speaking, working in dangerous conditions, harassment, or discrimination in the workplace. Once the stress has been identified, it’s time to think about ways to cope with some of the stress.

Coping With The Different Types Of Stress

The best stress relief is the one that works. It sounds much simpler than it is, but there are many options available. Some stress can be relieved quickly using simple methods. One quick way to relieve stress is deep breathing. By focusing on breathing it is possible to be able to breathe stress away and to ease the effects it has on the mind and body. It is an easy method that can be done anywhere. While sitting, standing, or lying down, whichever is comfortable, breathe in one large breath, slowly counting to 5 and then slowly blow out, counting down from 5. Deep breathing will send a message to the brain to calm down and relax. It will help to quickly reduce stress and tension that is flowing through the body.

Another way to fight stress, though it won’t work as quickly, is to exercise. Exercising releases endorphins into the body to fight stress. It is recommended that adults exercise about 3 hours a week. For thirty minutes every other day, exercise can relieve stress from the body. This does not have to be done in a gym. A brisk walk, swimming, or even yoga. Finding an exercise buddy can make it easier to complete and stay motivated.

Stress Can Be Managed

There are numerous other ways to reduce stress. They vary from talking to someone, getting more sleep, keeping a journal, managing time, or meditation. Since stress is not something that will disappear, figuring out the best healthy coping method that fits your needs it key. Understanding your stress triggers and using a good method to reduce stress will improve your quality of life.
