Beaten and trapped in an abusive marriage, an artist must draw up a creative plan to find her freedom.
Sprrkle Media’s film Reborn will celebrate its world premiere as a part of the Golden State Film Festival.

Los Angeles, CA – February 25, 2019 – Sprrkle Media has announced its film Reborn to enter the festival circuit and will celebrate its world premiere on March 26 in Hollywood as part of the Golden State Film Festival.

Reborn is a short film to bring awareness to the desperate and silent cry of victims of domestic violence.  It was directed by a female Director, Petra Deeter, who is, herself, a survivor of domestic violence.  Deeter is also working on a feature-length documentary film about physical domestic violence against women, aiming to highlight the common public misconceptions about the subject.  These misconceptions can have very serious consequences for victims.

Speaking on the film, Deeter says, “I am a survivor and a strong advocate for women who were/are victims of domestic violence. This film represents a romanticized fictional dream of many victims who are trapped and wish to be reborn into new lives, ones that are unbroken, un-silent and free.  It is their desperate cry.”  Executive producer, Adolfo Jimenez, comments, “Domestic violence is, unfortunately, a serious and timeless issue.  Reborn is a narrative film that brings much needed awareness and is a subject teaser to the feature-length documentary that we are working on.”

Domestic violence is a serious issue, especially for women around the world. In America, more than 7.6 million women are victims of physical domestic violence every year.  Victims are often trapped in the abusive relationships and unable to leave because the abusers can kill the victims and the victims’ children.

There is no doubt that domestic violence is an overwhelming problem in our society today. No one else can tell the story in a fictional way better than someone who was in fact, a victim of domestic violence but was able to keep her head above water. This film entails the emotional and brave story of domestic violence from a survivor point of view and offers a romanticed, although unrealistic, dream of the victims who wish to escape to a new life. There are so many life lessons to learn from it. The film is summed up this way, “Beaten and trapped in an abusive marriage, an artist must draw up a creative plan to find her freedom.”

This film was shot using a fascinating combination of a modern full-frame mirror-less digital camera and manual vintage 35 mm film lenses from the 50s and 60s to give viewers a nostalgic experience.
