The East Coast National Scenic Area of East Taiwan is very lively this summer! The 2019 Taiwan East Coast Land Arts Festival will begin on June 21st at the Duli Visitor Center. To kick it all off, the first event will be a “Moonlight and Sea” concert. After this, the 45-day 2019 Taiwan International Balloon Festival will officially debut on June 29th! This summer, welcome to the east of Taiwan to experience the beauty of land, sea and air!

The “East Coast Land Art Festival” will celebrate its 5th anniversary this year. Filled with sights and activities such as open art studios, art fairs, and concerts, this is an art festival that focus on the themes of our natural environment, tribal life, and travel along the eastern coastline. This year, the events take place along Provincial Highway 11, the central theme of “Mother Island – Song of Tide” emphasizes the dialogue between art, nature and the humanities, and will include 7 “Moonlight and Sea” concerts. The first one of these will be held at the Duli Visitor Center on June 21st. These concerts will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the moonlight and listen to the combination of tides and music.

In addition, the organizer has selected performing arts teams in fields such as music, dance, and drama. The performances will complement the “Moonlight and Sea” performances, and will represent the close relationship and the symbiotic culture and life aesthetics beauty existing between the moon and the ocean waves. Open registration for the concerts have begun, and will continue through June 30, 2019 (Sunday). The concerts are open to everyone.

“The 2019 Taiwan International Balloon Festival” was not only selected as one of the 12 amazing hot air balloon festivals in the world by the Travel Channel in 2018, but also came in first place in the Taitung annual must-have event online vote! This event focuses on the regional characteristics of East Taiwan and Taitung, and allows domestic and foreign travelers to enjoy Taitung County’s beautiful skies and natural and pure features. Every Saturday, beginning on June 1st, the beautiful evening concerts will be held under the stars in Taitung County. This is a famous attraction on its own, and is also a warm up for the Taiwan International Balloon Festival.

As this event enters its 9th year, the new styles and attractions of the balloon festival will surpass those of previous years. In addition, as in the past, Taitung will host concerts under the starry skies. This year’s concerts will be held on Changbin Diamond Avenue, Mr. Brown Avenue, at the Guanshan Water Park and at the Jialulan Recreation Area. The organizer invites tourists to lie on the road to watch the stars, and experts will tell the tales of the stars above. Take a chance to get away from the hustle and pressure of the city, immerse yourself in a quiet starry night, and experience the thrills of Taitung within its slow-paced and happy life style!
