Transax Breast Augmentation With Gummy Bear Implants Improves Recovery, Comfort, Look And Feel In Breast Augmentation

Gummy bear implants use a highly cross-linked silicone that maintains its shape and has numerous advantages over standard silicone and saline (salt-water) implants.  However, they require a larger incision to insert and leave a larger scar on the breast.

Marc S. Schneider, M.D., founder of the Centre, has pioneered the technique of inserting breast implants through a small hidden incision in the axilla (armpit). Having presented this technique internationally, it places the implant under the muscle and offers a much faster recovery with no physical limitations following the surgery. “Because there is no weak point caused by an incision on the breast, patients are able to resume their normal activities immediately. This improves and quickens their recovery,” said Dr. Schneider.

Called the Transax Breast Augmentation, the procedure requires the latest instrumentation in minimal incision surgery called an endoscope. This is used to see under and lift the muscle of the chest, and create a pocket for the implant. Having performed the technique on thousands of patients using saline implants since 1994, Dr. Schneider further developed the procedure to include silicone and gummy bear implants.  He has now performed over 500 Transax augmentations with gummy bear implants.

Gummy bear implants have significant benefits including a natural feel, look, and less visible rippling. They pose a challenge however because they require a larger incision. The larger incision, typically placed under the breast, leaves a larger scar and limits the patient’s physical activity for weeks. The Transax approach leaves no breast scar and virtually disappears because it is located in a natural skin crease. As the implant does not sit under the incision, patients are able to have unlimited physical activity the next day without fear of popping the incision open.

Patients are in the gym running and lifting weights within days of surgery. “I believe the increased physical activity and motion leads to a faster recovery with less discomfort,” said Schneider. A shorter recovery, less discomfort, and no scar on the breast is the next evolution in breast enhancement.
