A semiconductor cooler is essentially a thermoelectric cooler. It is also known as Peltier cooler or Thermoelectric Cooler. It utilises the principle of thermoelectric cooling or the Peltier effect. It is a solid-state device that consists of two sides. The application of DC current transfers the heat from one side to the other. This reduces the temperature of one side while simultaneously increasing that of the other. A heat sink on the side that heats up is used for maintaining it at room temperature, so that the device can continue to function as needed.
