Veteran enterprise software executive brings more than 30 years’ experience to dynamic team of advisors
BigCommerce, the leading open SaaS ecommerce platform for fast-growing and established brands, today announced the appointment of Jack McDonald, chairman and chief executive officer at cloud-based enterprise work management software company Upland Software, to its Board of Directors. An enterprise software veteran with more than 30 years’ experience, McDonald will advise BigCommerce’s leadership team as the company continues to expand its product offering and partner ecosystem to meet the complex needs of experience-driven mid-market and enterprise-level online retailers.

An Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner, McDonald brings more than 30 years of experience leading and scaling software companies. As the CEO of Upland Software, McDonald led Upland’s IPO in 2014, and has completed 24 acquisitions during his time with the company. Prior to founding Upland in 2012, McDonald served for 10 years as chairman and CEO of Perficient, a leading IT consulting firm, where he scaled growth from a six-person startup to more than 1,200 employees across the globe, completed 17 acquisitions and led the company’s IPO.
McDonald began his career as a mergers & acquisitions lawyer at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom after earning his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law. He is actively involved in Austin, Texas’ civic and nonprofit communities, and has served as chairman of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Austin Technology Partnership, the Texas Emerging Technology Fund for CenTex and PeopleFund.
