Emerging Program Demonstrates Successful Track in Addressing the Growing Racial Wealth Divide in America as the Nation wrestles with Issues of Race, Racism, and Economic Inequality by piloting Innovative Solutions.

Prosperity Now’s Racial Wealth Divide Initiative (RWDI) is shining light on the causes, consequences and remedies to inequity and underlying discrimination faced by Non-Profit Organizations led by People of Color.

Billions of dollars flow annually in philanthropic charity, public grants and private funding to address an array of social and economic issues and sustain education, arts, and culture in America. Published studies and statistics show that only a small percentage of those resources make it to Non-Profit Organizations led by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

The Racial Wealth Divide Initiative is a robust initiative that, in the last 5 years, has achieved 8 million dollars in investment as it serves and advocates for over 50 Black, Indigenous, and People of Color led Nonprofits across 15 cities and 11 states. The initiative builds its power through cooperative partnerships at the grassroots and grasstops.

Fall 2020 – Spring 2021, the Racial Wealth Divide Initiative leadership – including Vice President Lilian Singh (Fmr. Director of NAACP’s Economic Department and Financial Freedom Campaign), and RWDI Associate Directors, Cat Goughnour, and Ebony White are giving interviews and joining panels across the country in philanthropic, private and public sectors as experts, scholars, and practitioners in racial economic and wealth equity.
