SAVANNAH, Georgia – January 6, 2021 – Newell-PSN, a leading manufacturer of High-Voltage Porcelain, Glass and Polymer Insulators, announced the opening of a Quality Control Lab for electrical and mechanical testing of insulators in Savannah, Georgia. The lab was designed to conduct proof and conformance testing for new and existing customers including witness testing as part of their steps for product approval.
The new Facility can run Electrical tests including AC Dielectric Test, AC Hi Potential Test, and Semi-conductive glaze current measurement, along with Mechanical tests utilizing a Tinius-Olsen Mechanical Strength Machine and a Phenix HiPot Tester for Combined Mech-Elec Strength Test (Suspension). Additionally, the Test Facility includes a 55,000 sq ft warehouse distribution center and general offices.
“The Test Facility fills a big need in the space as manufacturers, suppliers and providers of insulators need to verify and certify AC and strength of equipment that is vital to the North American Electric Power Grid”, said Rick Stanley, President of Newell-PSN. “We have heard from our customers and competitors alike, looking for a testing facility”, he continued.
