Student at Tierra del Sol Middle School in the Lakeside Union School District Gets Article Published in ACSA Leadership Magazine

Amenah Morad, a former student at Tierra Del Sol Middle School in the Lakeside Union School District, put her talent and work ethic on display with a featured article in the ACSA Leadership magazine. The magazine has five issues per year that each focus on specific focus areas surrounding education. Topics include critical issues facing education leaders today and Amenah was featured for her moving submission about her life and education journey as a refugee in America. 

Amenah’s featured article in the magazine explores her story of “The American dream: Building up to success”. Amenah recounts her story of being a refugee and fleeing her home country for a better life. While awaiting U.S visas, her family lived in Turkey for three years learning a new language and adjusting to life in a new country. Amenah highlights the difficulties faced by her family as they transitioned to life in the U.S with another new language, new jobs, and new schools.

In the U.S, Amenah excelled in her schooling and graduated her English Learners class after just one year. Throughout elementary school and middle school, Amenah participated in advanced courses, was named Student of the Year, and competed and won her Middle School Spelling Bee. The tremendous effort and success of Amenah have made her an outstanding student and learner. The Lakeside Union School District is proud to have amazing students like her who are recognized for their impressive accomplishments.
