Hungry Bark’s initial understanding of the deficit in nutritious dog food on the market began when founder and CEO Nick Molina, was searching for wholesome dog food for his rescued puppy, Barkley (hence the name Hungry “Bark”). His options were disappointing and he realized that while human nutrition had made huge advances, pet food was left far behind. He set out to create his own dog nutrition brand, Hungry Bark.
“A few years ago, I personally made the switch to a personalized nutritionally-advanced diet and it impacted my life tremendously,” said founder and CEO, Nick Molina. “When I adopted my rescue dog Barkely, I wanted to create a similar diet for dogs after realizing how much the change positively impacted my life. The company uses a proprietary Custom Meal Planner that they created alongside Clinical Pet Nutritionists and Veterinarians. Customers will receive a complete personalized meal plan, along with specific feeding guidelines specific to their dog. The personalization is based on a dog’s unique characteristics, including age, breed, weight, sensitivities or allergies, activity level and more. Hungry Bark offers an initial two week taste trial and thereafter delivers a complete meal plan on a monthly basis.
Each product contains natural superfood ingredients from transparent, responsible sources. Hungry Bark only uses cage-free poultry products, farm-raised animal products, and non-GMO vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Hungry Bark products, crafted in the United States, meet and exceed all standards and regulations of the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO).
The small-batch, slow-cooked products are sealed in bags made from recycled materials. The bags feature an ever-fresh locking interior, advanced re-seal technology and an ultra-thick lining to ensure freshness.
Hungry Bark also created Round Up for Pups™, a charity program in which customers have the opportunity to round up their purchase to an even dollar amount at check-out. The customer’s donation goes directly to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). For every dollar donated, Hungry Bark proudly matches 100 percent of the contribution and donates the money to carefully selected shelters and rescue organizations across the country.
