WASHINGTON, D.C. – Calling all high school juniors and seniors in the D.C. metro region! There’s only a couple of weeks left to enter your essay on medical mistakes in Bertram Law Group’s 2021 Scholarship Essay Contest.
The Washington, D.C. medical malpractice law firm is awarding three prizes to the best writers of essays answering one of the following questions:
- What can the healthcare industry do to stop medical mistakes from happening?
- How is technology in the medical world changing patient-provider relationships?
- How can our healthcare system better protect the security of patient data from hackers? Furthermore, do HIPAA regulations need updating to reflect these changes?
- Do telemedicine visits have risks associated with patient safety?
- How can technology be used to make healthcare safer?
“Medical negligence is a pervasive problem in the United States, killing an estimated 250,000 to 400,000 people every year,” says firm founder Catherine D. Bertram. “Through this scholarship, we look to the young, bright minds in D.C.-area schools for input on how to make the healthcare system safer.”
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:
- Be high school juniors or seniors
- Live in Washington, D.C, Maryland, or Virginia
- Write a compelling 1,000 to 2,000-word original essay, submitted in Word or .PDF format.
- Submit a high school transcript and headshot. The transcript should be a .PDF and the photo should be a .JPG or .PNG file.
- Email the entry to bertramlawscholarship@gmail.com.
