Not Real Art Serves as a Platform to Celebrate and Empower Contemporary Artists 1
New Website Supports The Arts Community Through Grants, Podcasts, Exhibits, And More.

Scott Power, co-founder of Crewest Studio in Los Angeles, a mission driven content company dedicated to the creative and performing arts, knows the challenge of attaining a sustainable livelihood as an artist. Over the years, he and his company has worked with a myriad of different artists, hearing their stories and admiring their work. He knew it was time to make a difference and help this community elevate and showcase its talents to the world. So they launched a website to do exactly that called, Not Real Art.

Not Real Art presents a platform where independent contemporary artists are celebrated and empowered. Not Real Art is a venue where artists stories are amplified and their talents are recognized.

In pursuit of this goal, the website provides a variety of content, resources, and campaigns to its visitors and members. These include podcasts, blogs, artist profiles, virtual galleries and an online shop featuring the artworks of its members.

Among its biggest projects is the Not Real Art Creators Conference. The event, organized and presented by the Not Real Art team, provided educational and professional insights from top personalities in the art community. It was held in Los Angeles, California last March 2019 and is coming back to Los Angeles in 2022.

Another notable feature of the Not Real Art website is its educational platform, the Not Real Art School. Here, the site provides online videos to teach fellow artists some of the most essential business skills every artist professional needs in order to market their work.

Each course features renowned industry experts and is freely accessible for the benefit of all. The online school tackles numerous subjects including copyrights, marketing, sales, branding, licensing, pitching, and storytelling. Expert instructors include, among others, Netflix animator Jorge Guiterrez, intellectual property attorneys Ilya Kushnirsky and Joshua Wattles, Warner Bros. Television Chairman Channing Dungey and renowned contemporary artists Logan Hicks and Hueman.

Not Real Art also gives monetary support to artists through its Not Real Art Grant for Artists. This annual grant amounting to US$ 12,000 is awarded to six select participants who exhibit exceptional talent and passion as emerging contemporary artists. The artist grant is free to enter with no obligation.

To participate in the award, artists may send their written entries together with their sample works. A panel of judges comprising some of the most respected names in the contemporary art scene then reviews and evaluates all the entries to determine the winners.

The grant program started in 2019 and has since helped twenty-four independent artists to finance their works. According to one of the previous winners, “I really enjoyed the process of applying to this grant. Unlike some other grants, I felt understood as an artist. I also really appreciate the frequent email (updates) which keep us in the loop. I truly feel part of this process, regardless of the results. It really makes me want to be a part of this community.”

The submission of entries for the year 2022 is soon to be opened in Janurary.

Not Real Art has a popular weekly podcast which aims to celebrate “creative culture and the artists who make it”. With almost 150 episodes, the interview-based talk show features top creative professionals from various fields such as former ArtNews Magazine publisher Milton Esterow, former Starbucks CMO Scott Bedbury, movie director Jeff Tremaine, actor Eric Winter and Steinway artist Ric’ky Pageot among others.

Not Real Art gives exclusive benefits to paid members such as promotional support, access to resources, discounts on upcoming events and products, and being featured on its blog. There are three different membership packages currently on offer: The Artist, The Art Lover, and The Art Patron.
