The seventeenth edition of SIMED (https://fycma.com/evento/simed-2021/?lang=en) took place in FYCMA (Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga) from the 4th to the 6th of November, as every year, the event brought together the real estate elite, as it is known for being one of the main real estate events at national level, besides being the reference platform for housing on the Andalusian coast.

One of the many novelties of the event and what really made the difference for me were the forums held by the best of the national real estate representation, forums in which the housing of the future was analyzed and discussed, with a focus on sustainable and digital housing, some of the topics discussed were the industrialization of housing, sustainable construction and PropTech trends. Future strategies were shared by the real estate, developer and construction industry elite at a new ACP Malaga Meeting Point.

During the event I was shown an offer of more than 11,000 future homes. The show returned this year with the best housing offer of the entire Andalusian coast, demonstrating why it is recognized as the largest housing platform of the entire coast, its innovative and professional content was aligned with real estate growth, the developer and construction sector.

This edition also included several new features to focus in PropTech future development in order to address trends, strategies and inspiring experiences around the challenges and opportunities of the sector.

The opportunities shared during SIMED were very exclusive, during the event, the public had access and firsthand knowledge and understanding of the projects under development on the Andalusian coast from the very hand of the elite experts in the field.

I spoke with Foto Casa, District Z and several of the exponents and they all agreed that Malaga will be a key point for the real estate development in Spain.  As a country and as a city this land is ahead of what will be the house of the future. Where technology, investment and tourism will go hand in hand.  A clear example that a city like Málaga is ready to receive whoever wants to come. Whether it is a talent, an investor or an ordinary citizen looking for quality of life and a privileged climate.

Simed has always brought together under the same roof the main developers and real estate companies in Spain with a high-quality offer that includes new homes -usually second homes or possible investments with tenants- and second hand. This year did not lag behind and the supply of homes was above the approximately 11,000 properties mentioned above, prices started at around 145,000 euros and the homes were mainly located in the province of Malaga.

The fair was organized by FYCMA with collaborators such as the Gerencia Municipal de Urbanismo, Obras e Infraestructuras – Malaga City Council’s Territorial Planning Department – and the Instituto Municipal de la Vivienda – Social Rights, Equality and Accessibility Department.

As sector collaborators we find FADECO and ACP Malaga. At the institutional level, also collaborating are the Agency for Housing and Rehabilitation of Andalusia, belonging to the Ministry of Development, Infrastructure and Land Management of the Government of Andalusia; Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol; Extenda-Andalusia Export and Foreign Investment of the Ministry of Presidency, Public Administration, and Interior of the Government of Andalusia; Promalaga; the University of Malaga (UMA), and the Consumers Union.

For my part, it has been a very good and enlightening experience that I am looking forward to repeating next year.
