The NYSCC Suppliers’ Day is a flagship event, dedicated to the education and success of the ever-evolving world of beauty. This year’s theme of “Embracing Beauty: A Celebration of What We Can Create” was an exciting concept. It was the perfect occasion for the debut of the INDIE360 track, created to spotlight pioneering indie brands who are working tirelessly to grow and redefine the beauty and personal care world. Suppliers’ Day attendees were asked to vote for their favorite indie brand participant over the course of the two-day tradeshow. The winner, taking home top honors and the People’s Choice Award, was Skin Moderne, a brand that has been relentless in the pursuit of clean, effective skincare and technology.

Richard Purvis, Founder, and CEO of Skin Moderne, was there to accept the honor over a champagne reception, and later answer the many questions that attendees had for him about Skin Moderne’s innovative take on skincare. Skin Moderne topped a list of many notable names in the beauty industry, including Indie Lee of Indie Lee Cosmetics, Dr. Robb Akridge, of Opulus Beauty Labs, Hear Me Raw founded by Mike Indursky, and many more. The runner-up in the People’s Choice award was Dr. J’s Naturals, a California-based nutraceutical company founded in 2009 that focuses on health from the inside out.
Suppliers’ Day is the flagship event of NYSCC, dedicated to the advancement of cosmetics science. The annual trade show attracts those working in R&D and product development for the biggest brand manufacturers working in beauty and personal care, as well as up-and-coming brands that are emerging as independents. From home chemists who create labors of love in their kitchens to big-name multi-million dollar brands, dermatologists, and brand executives alike, the Indie pavilion gathered everyone together in the pursuit of education, innovation, and evolution in the beauty industry.
More diverse, innovative, and competitive than ever before, the category space is brimming with founders of personal care brands wanting to present and promote their hard work. The INDIE360 pavilion was created to highlight those fresh ideas and concepts—from companies that are employing unique combinations of ingredients in the pursuit of the best and most efficacious products and technologies. The indie pavilion was generously moderated and curated by Access Beauty Insiders Daniela Ciocan, and Luciana Coutinho. The program track included roundtable discussions with founders and industry leaders, shining a spotlight on independent brands from every angle. The pavilion also hosted Bossing Up, an association that spotlights black-owned beauty businesses from NYC neighborhoods and communities, such as Bree & Milly, Just Because Hair NYC, Masami, and more.
Each year, Suppliers’ Day takes on a new theme, and this year’s theme of “Embracing Beauty: A Celebration of What We Can Create” has been fully embodied by Skin Moderne, a brand that utilizes new formulations, ingredients, and technologies—including their NanoFusion technology, which helps topicals become highly efficacious.
