The New DOGPAK K9 Backpack is Changing the Face of Dog Adventure 1
Ultralight, waterproof, and form-fitting, this dog backpack is a first of its kind.

DOGPAK, a Swiss-based outdoor K9 gear company, will be launching its new dog backpack design in June, bringing canine equipment to the forefront of the fast-growing trend of ultralight hiking. “Dogs aren’t designed to carry heavy loads over long distances,” remarks DOGPAK founder Devin Kelly, who has traveled extensively on 3 continents with his dog, Thunder. “A few grams saved counts a lot more for a dog than it does for a person.” This notion led him to design a new style of dog backpack: one that focuses on conserving weight, minimizing bulk, and optimizing fit to minimize slipping. (More on dog backpacking safety:

The result is the new DOGPAK Moab Lite daypack for dogs. Waterproof and ultralight, the new design delivers a pack with a slimmer profile than many other models, which can be overly bulky and cumbersome to carry.

The minimalist design also means this pack can be used for both daily walks and overnight backpacking trips. While the saddle bags are slim in profile, they offer enough space and expansion to carry 2L of water, some food, treats, a K9 first aid kit, collapsible bowls, doggie bags, a leash, and most other common K9 hiking supplies. Waterproof with fully taped seams and an environmentally friendly PU coating, this pack will even keep gear dry while trekking in rain or morning dew. Bulkier items, like the dog’s coat or sleeping bag, can be rolled up and top-packed across the dog’s shoulders. This set-up helps distribute bulk and weight more efficiently, and also makes the dog’s profile thinner when trekking through brush, where they might otherwise become hung up.

With seven points of adjustment around the harness, the Moab Lite offers a wide range of customization to fit many different dog shapes—a common challenge in the industry. The new design also boasts a few more convenient details, like an easy-grab handle, a standing D-ring for clipping the leash with one hand, and tensioners on the cinch straps to minimize slipping.
