Mischaela’s education and personal life

Mischaela Elkins was born on 27 March 1989. She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and Finance. She subsequently completed Master’s level coursework in Business Statistics, Managerial Accounting, and Managerial Finance at Harvard Business School, followed by an MBA at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain’s famed Instituto de Empresa.

Journey to becoming Ms. Universe

Mischaela began modeling when she was a teenager. She has modeled for Cle de Peau, Graff, Van Cleef & Arpels, Diane Von Furstenburg, and Vera Wang, among other well-known names in the fashion, beauty, and jewelry industry. She has also appeared in Lucky, Vogue Italia, and Vanity Fair. In fact, Mischaela has also modeled for and been named brand ambassador for a slew of prestige and luxury swimwear brands, including Agua Bendita, Beach Bunny, and Luli Fama swimwear and has done pageant training with the Miss India team, Natalie Glebova, Catriona Gray, and other respected names in the industry.

She was nominated for both the Victoria’s Secret ‘Bombshell Because’ Award and the IGM Model of the Year Award in 2020. In the same year, she finished in the top five of the Miss Jetset modeling competition and went on to win two national beauty titles for Peru – Miss Elite Beauty Peru and Miss Model Beauty Peru. 

In 2021, she was also named Top Model Peru Season 14, and the organizers of Miss Global approached Elkins to represent her ancestry as Miss Global Indigenous Americas at the Bali, Indonesia event, which brought together women representing more than 80 ethnicities and cultural identities. In the same year, Mischaela competed for Ms. Universe 2021 and won the title of reigning Ms. Universe!
