The Pirate Gold Poker Set was initially launched in 2013 after a successful campaign on crowdfunding platform Pozible. The set was created by Jack Allwood and Kyle Jarratt, founders and directors of OnePointSix, a Melbourne-based product design consultancy. Now, they have announced a relaunch of the world’s first and only pirate-themed poker set – with updated designs.
As Texas Hold ‘em fans and industrial designers, Allwod & Jarratt leveraged their combined 30 years of experience to create their own poker set. They were dissatisfied with the quality of generic, plastic poker sets, and sought to design one that would allow for fun and lively gameplay.
The relaunch includes everything from the original, limited-run set on Pozible: custom illustrated playing cards, “gold” and “silver” metal coins with pirate details (poker chips), plastic “rubies” and “diamonds” for additional currency, and portable coin sacks. To emulate real pirate bounty, the coins are made from real metal alloy with a weighted feel. All components also have an antique, sea-worn finish for immersive gameplay.
New additions include a uniquely designed “Kraken” chip (also made from metal) to mark each player’s turn, and added coins: “Obsidian,” “Copper,” and “Cobalt.” The drawstring coin sacks have also been upgraded: they are now made from higher-quality woven hessian fabric designed for durability.
Meticulously designed and produced, the Pirate Gold Poker Set provides hours of enjoyment for Texas Hold ‘em fans worldwide. More information about Pirate Gold can be found at https://pirategoldpoker.com/.
