The New Zealand eco-technology firm CarbonClick has formed a strategic alliance with the industry-leading travel software business Amadeus.
Initially targeting key markets including Australia, Singapore and New Zealand, a voluntary carbon offsetting option will be rolled out globally.
Eventually, the technology will be rolled out to travel agencies throughout the world via Amadeus Selling Platform Connect, and to travellers directly with Amadeus Dynamic Travel Documents.
Adding a business and consumer offering to an expanding portfolio of sustainability measures, the alliance is a step in the right direction toward taking revolutionary steps on a worldwide scale.
Says Amadeus’ Vice President of Sustainability Ecosystem Initiatives, Olivier Girault: “Here at Amadeus, eco-friendly solutions in the travel industry are a global concern, so we are working collectively to create effective solutions. We at Amadeus are working closely with select companies in an effort to solve environmental problems. The announcement of our relationship with CarbonClick is indicative of this dedication, since it paves the way for travel agencies to provide their customers a credible carbon offsetting option via the channels on which they book their trips.”
Amadeus customers may use the offsetting technology using a straightforward interface.
The facility will make it simple for users to determine the carbon offsetting amount for a given trip, as well as receiving a traceable offset receipt that goes along with it.
Amadeus Dynamic Travel Documents itineraries will now include a link to CarbonClick Traveller Offset, where passengers may compensate for their flight’s carbon impact.
The CarbonClick relationship with Amadeus provides a verified transparent offset alternative to allow more eco-friendly travel, as stated by CarbonClick CEO Dave Rouse. Given that a single long-haul trip may account for as much as a quarter of an individual’s yearly footprint, with the chance to mitigate this effect via the travel purchase channel being timely and significant.
The alliance with CarbonClick gives travel agencies and tourists an easy and immediate option to help the environment. As a result of this collaboration, a few confirmed carbon offsetting initiatives that are dedicated to renewable energy and tree planting will get immediate advantages.
In this way, tourists can see exactly how their money is being used. “This is best practice and the correct thing to do, and it also raises confidence via the verified status of the process and the projects,” explains CarbonClick’s CEO, Dave Rouse.
In the field of Gold Standard carbon offsets in facilitating individuals and companies to take positive climate action, CarbonClick has emerged as a worldwide leader and is accredited with ESG and as a B-Corp. This new relationship with Amadeus, whose customers include major airlines and airports, broadens the scope of environmentally responsible tourism to include yet another facet of the flight booking process.
CarbonClick is a provider of voluntary carbon offset technology. When it comes to credible climate change initiatives, CarbonClick is without peer. Their carbon offsetting solutions are convenient, transparent, and effective, and they have been empowering airlines and aviation facilities since 2019. The B-Corp Certification was awarded to CarbonClick in February 2022 in recognition of the company’s dedication to improving its environmental and social impact.
