The inclination sensor, an acceleration sensor using the principle of inertia, which can provide complaint information relative to gravity. This sensor is widely used in the application of monitoring various equipment status.

The earliest inclination sensor is not a sensor strictly, it is just a switch composed of a ball ball at the bottom. When the angle of the device is tilted, the ball rolls to the bottom after a certain limit, and the electrical connection with the board will generate an indication signal. From its principles, we can call it an electric mechanical inclination switch.

Subsequently, the early inclination sensor contains resistance or capacitor liquid in the sealing cavity. When the device is inclined, the liquid flow changes, thereby changing the resistance or capacitor of the internal circuit, and then directly monitoring through the circuit output. At this time, the inclination sensor can already provide quite accurate and reliable tilt data, but the shortcoming is that the sensor itself is extremely vulnerable to external interference, and the response speed is not fast.

Although the inclination sensor based on MEMS is compared to the traditional liquid technical sensing, it has solved the shortcomings of response speed and service life, but the challenge of MEMS inclination detection has not been alleviated. The functions and accuracy of the inclination sensor are affected by various factors, such as the “double axis” in the figure above. The selection of axis needs to be selected according to the specific application. The inappropriate selection of the shaft will have a great impact on the measurement result. Other factors include temperature, inclination sensor scale, linearity, and cross -axis sensitivity.

The inclination sensor after the fusion of the sensor is more sensitive to the acceleration response under dynamic conditions, but it will not be affected by the “extra” acceleration. Coupled with the introduction of various intelligent algorithms, the MEMS inclination sensor has realized intelligent functions such as range bandwidth configuration and self -diagnosis. Under these progress, even in an environment where vibrations and impact are strong, the inclination sensor can now achieve sufficient accurate and reliable tilt information.
